Solo Parenting = More Streaming

Mrs. Tex had to make a last-minute trip back to Illinois to help care for her parents for ten(!) days.

Keep her and my mother-in-law in your prayers as she's having quite a rough time in recovery from knee replacement surgery. If you're not the praying type, well-wishes and good vibes work as well!

So, with that in mind, more streams will happen. Will I plan them? No! So make sure to drop a follow on Twitch and YouTube. I'll likely go live tonight (Friday) after the kids go to bed as I have no morning obligations.

Initial Black Flag Resynced Impressions

First off, this game is GORGEOUS. Thankfully the game includes a lot of follow modes on the ground and sea to take it in. I'm absolutely floored. Ubisoft wasn't kidding when they said it wasn't just an upscale.

My biggest concern was the loss of the present day storyline. It wasn't enthralling to play, but I loved the lore. Well, it was clear from the jump it would be present and I love what they've done with it.

Think Revelations inside-the-Animus puzzles on steroids. It's platforming puzzles (so far), but it's not completely abstract. Further, there's an AI, EGO, that apparently might just be self aware. It's turned the Helix program into the "Dark Animus" and wants to change the outcomes of human choices to the optimal ones.

Great narrative choice for the AI-age, and super-meta. In the initial Black Flag release, you worked as a lacky at Abstergo Entertainment (like Rogue). The modern day Templars wanted to scale the Animus into allowed non-descendants access memories via the Helix program. It seems that worked and why we're getting this "new" game.

So far, I dig it. Oh, and the Assassin's are in this Dark Animus too somehow as an Eagle.

The new bits of story rule as well. I'm recruiting officers right now, which is brand new story. Nothing ground-breaking, but the first one I did was fun (and got DARK).

I'm still struggling with the controls. So you'll see a lot of death as I reprogram my brain. Massive entertainment abound.
