Join Me at Miracle Con! Plus, Solo Parenting Weekend!
Heroes,
If you are near the Oklahoma City area, or want to make a trip in before College Football really kicks into high gear, consider coming to MiracleCon!
This is one of our largest Extra Life in-person fundraisers. This year, I'll finally be able to make it back out (and possibly doing a panel) after a couple years away. Additionally, this will be the first time that the event will span two days!
We have a sizeable cosplaying community both attending for fun and joining in our cosplay competitions (kids competition too!). We usually have a couple professional cosplayers that drop in and also groups like the 501st Legion that attend annually.
We also have space for loads of TTRPG one-shots, complete with volunteer DMs. There's a board game library that will let you try out loads of different games. Warguts will provide a full video gaming setup. Finally, we will have all kinds of vendors with art, dice, cards, and more (perhaps I'll do some Game Day incentive shopping...).
Oh, and well have a massive raffle too. I'll get more details on the goods in next week

It's Another Solo Parenting Streaming Weekend
This weekend, Mrs. Tex will travel back to her home state of Illinois to enjoy a concert with her friends for her birthday. This means I'll be at home with streaming time once the kiddos are asleep!
I'm also hoping to use this space weekly to give a quick preview of why you should tune in.
Thursday
After a long break with Assassin's Creed, Final Fantasy XIV is back on the menu. While the main story won't update until September, the hilarious Hildibrand questline will conclude for the Dawntrail expansion.
If you've never seen these quests before, imagine a very self-aware anime with writers all too happy to absolutely lean all the way into the goofy and absurd. It's a wonderful break from the usual and you can tell just how much the team loves making it.
Afterwards, I'll do the summer seasonal event (always one of my favorites!) and any additional chill content.
I'll be on the heels of just coming back from work travel, and doing a head coach meeting for baseball (which may make me late). I will welcome chill vibes!
Friday
I will bid farewell to Edward Kenway and the Jackdaw. Before I do, we'll enjoy one last stream in the West Indies.
We will treasure hunt, try to find a couple more ship upgrades, but above all else, I'm going to sink at least one legendary ship.
I don't have any commitments in the early morning. Grab a drink, sing a shanty, and come on board.
Saturday
It's been far too long since we've been in The Canvas, especially considering this was an overarching bit for fundraising this year. To recap, I'm playing Expedition 33 on New Game+, which ups the difficulty a bit. Additionally, donations during my birthday stream pushed enemy health to 100x normal.
On top of that, every $1,000 raised adds a new superboss that I have to take out under these conditions. As of now, in addition to beating the game, I have to take out:
- Sprong (not to bad)
- Serpenphare (oh dear)
- All 33 Trials of the Endless Tower (help)
- Clea (HELP)
At $5,000 is Simon (DEAR GOD HELP) and I have to run a 5K.
Oh, and the death tax is in effect. And each milestone goal that I fail will add 10% to said tax.
This is fine.
Sunday
Our server died this past Sunday, so we audibled to Raft. However, the plan was to fight the Wither during this stream since we are all online (for a change).
Now, I know we still have to do more prep (like actually farming Wither skulls) so hopefully we pull this off.
Either way, we will need all the donations for the revive pool because I'm absolutely terrified of wither-sickness in hardcore mode.
