You're Invited to a Four Job Fiesta!

The Popular FFV Playstyle Challenge Is Coming with a Twist.

You're Invited to a Four Job Fiesta!

The Final Fantasy V Four Job Fiesta is a variant playstyle that also has some great charity roots. I’m doing this run outside of the normal summer Fiesta timeframe, but I don’t need a Twitter bot to do a job that dice can do!

The gimmick is similar to my job switching one in Final Fantasy III. What makes FFV different is the ability to master jobs and using those abilities on any other job in the game. The Fiesta takes this ultra-flexible concept and forces the player to stick to four jobs, and their abilities, for the entire run.

My take on this gimmick will, of course, involve your donations, a death tax (maxed at $200), and two separate milestone goal paths.

The first path is counting the donations for the entire run. I will start using the regular Fiesta rules. Like FFIII, each crystal unlocks new jobs. A dice roll choses which job from that new crystal I’m allowed to use. From that point onward, my party must have that job in it, meaning once all four crystals are unlocked, I must have each job on a party member.

At $500 raised, I will adopt the random variant. Instead of the job pool coming from each crystal, the job pool contains the current crystal’s jobs plus all previously unlocked jobs. This opens up the potential for duplicates and thus limiting the options that I have for a balanced party by the end.

At $1000 raised, I will adopt the pure chaos variant. In this variant, I get all four jobs assigned from the entire job pool, regardless if they are unlocked or not. This includes the base freelancer job and the special Mime job that has to be unlocked separately. Duplicates are still on the table and I will re-roll all four jobs for maximum chaos!

At $1500 raised, I will be forced to battle not one, but two optional Super Bosses (Omega and Shinryu).

At $2000 raised, the forbidden variant unlocks. Once I enter the Interdimensional Rift, one of my jobs, and all its abilities are gone for the rest of the game. Giving me only three jobs to chose from, guaranteeing a duplicate.

Oh, and remember those Super Bosses? Yeah, I would likely face them after this little horror hits as both are found in the Interdimensional Rift.

Now, for the second milestone path: a weekly donation goal of $250.

I will start the week on 12 AM CDT Monday and accept all donations made until 11:59 PM CDT the following Sunday. I will re-roll one of the jobs according to the current rules. This means potentially wiping out loads of strategy and grinding EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK.

My good friend Eddie tossed in $50 over the weekend, and since he had no clue about this, I will count that in this week’s total (don’t forget, I’m still auctioning off Bartz’s name as well).

Since a re-roll before any job assignments doesn’t do much, the first week’s reward will be to force one of my characters to remain a freelancer for entirety of the first stream (currently planned for Thursday at 9PM CDT). If the goal is hit after the first stream, I will re-roll the job in the next stream, meaning all my work is basically wiped out.

I’ve never had the chance to do a Four Job Fiesta and am excited to do this crazy little variant for my first attempt.

Get those donations in!
