When Mrs. Tex Is Away I Will (Try to) Play

Video games...get your mind out of the gutter.

Action Cookbook, whom you can find on this very platform, crafted a tweet that I always post any time Mrs. Tex goes out of town:

Yes, I absolutely ate many a stupid thing this weekend (my go-to: stuffed crust pizza). However, my inner monologue has an addendum:

I am going to stay up ridiculously late playing video games.

At least that is always the intent. Granted, I did purposefully schedule my monthly Crowd Control stream in this window for a reason. I shut that down around midnight though because responsible dad monologue kicked in:

You are responsible for two boys and one has a baseball game in the morning. Go to bed.

Granted, I was determined to have the big gaming blowout happen on Saturday night. I figured I’d either be in full drunk celebration of Notre Dame beating Ohio State or I’d game out the sadness of the loss.

Reality struck yet again, delivering a loss in such a heartbreaking fashion, that I just put the kids to bed (who I let stay up late and were both very disappointed by the outcome), poured another glass of whiskey, swore off football the rest of the night, and watched a few episodes of Bleach: The Thousand Year War until I went to bed.

That’s right, I went full anime because Notre Dame couldn’t kill clock or count to 11.

So here I am, Sunday night, putting together this newsletter wondering if tonight, my last night by my lonesome, if I’ll stay up late playing Starfield

Hold on, I’m getting another internal message:

You are still responsible for two boys and they need to get to school on time. Don’t forget you have to get them to haircuts after school and baseball practice after that. Also, you have work tomorrow, dummy.

I can’t wait for Mrs. Tex to get back.

Fundraising Update

The monthly Crowd Control stream was another success, even though I completely botched my understanding of how the new global coins work. I earn revenue when coins are spent on my stream, not on purchase (which was the old way).

It’s all good though because $170.96 worth was used on me Friday night and I know more coins are sitting around for folks. I’ll (hopefully) have the October date set by next newsletter.

This brings the yearly total to over $9,000 (Vegeta intensifies!). There is only $42.97 left to raise for the next Triforce shot as well.

I’d love to hit $10,000 before my Game Day marathon in October. Let’s keep this momentum going!

Weekly Schedule

I have my own travel for a work-related diversity business council this week. As that travel will extend through Thursday, I will only have my Tuesday stream, but I will try to have VoDs up every day starting Tuesday!
