New Year. New Plan. Same Cause.

And I’m kicking off the year with no internet, apparently.

I’m coming to you live via mobile hotspot, reminding me of my road warrior days where my phone served as my primary gateway to the internet instead of my home router. Hilariously enough, I wasn’t planning on streaming this week anyways, but that doesn’t remove the annoyance that my ISP can’t roll a truck until Monday.

Hilariously enough, I had no plans to stream this week. Instead, I had three goals for the week:

  1. Post the interview segments that I had during 2022’s Game Day marathon (which has required quite a bit of censoring…) on the Extra Voices podcast feed.
  2. Get some streaming clips highlighted for social media and YouTube.
  3. Get my oldest used to his new bedtime routine of putting himself to sleep.

I can’t even believe I typed that last sentence, but my oldest is now at the point in which he will just read to himself and then bury himself underneath his blankets when the lights go out. At that point, he will proceed to talk our ears off, making our presence completely counterproductive.

I say all this because this creates a rather huge change for my streaming in 2023: streams that start at a decent hour! Going forward, evening streams will start at 7 PM CST instead of 9 PM CST.

I’m hoping that this change will not only give more people a chance to watch, but a chance for me to stream more since it won’t involve me staying up crazy late. Going to bed at a decent hour also makes Mrs. Tex far happier, which might just allow for more streaming in 2023 overall.

Keep up with this year’s Extra Life campaign by subscribing for free!

As far as what I’ll stream this year, I will definitely continue working my way through the Final Fantasy series. I will mix in other games as well, but it will be focusing on games that I know I enjoy (or have a good feeling that I will enjoy). In short, I’m not making a Mass Effect: Andromeda mistake again. I’ll take a dive around my backlog if the mood strikes or fire up a sandbox game like Satisfactory or Raft (I’m also toying around with an idea about a dedicated server for people to join in on such games).

In short, this year, and going forward, I want to share games I enjoy with you. So expect some good stories while I also figure out ways to wreck some havoc in the games that I enjoy.

I will also have one Crowd Control stream a month. I didn’t do nearly enough of those.

The major milestones will focus on my all-time total this year. I’m still not quite sure what craziness I will dive into there—so stay tuned. I will also have smaller, per stream mini-milestones because if I don’t have an Extra Life stream without the threat of booze or ultra-spicy food, is it even an Extra Life stream?

Finally, you can now find this year’s Extra Life page at gamin4aven.org. Yep, I sprung for a new domain. The old dot com will still work as well as gaming4aven.org and gaming4aven.com because I don’t want word-of-mouth shares getting 404’d.

It’s going to be a great year and I’m determined to hit $20K!

Make sure to spread the word, heroes!
