I Ate $28 of Taco Bell
And raised over $600 while doing it
Last week, thanks to the power of Twitter, some Fox financial guy that I’ve never heard of got lambasted for pointing out that inflation was so bad, his “nice” lunch at Taco Bell ballooned to $28:
Fox Business contributor: “You want to know how bad inflation is? Yesterday, yes, I had a nice lunch at Taco Bell — cost me about $28 at Taco Bell for lunch.”

Um, how is that even physically possible? (Also, don’t think I’ll take financial advice from this guy.)
In case you are curious, here is what that guy ordered:

Beyond the fact that this financial wizard should learn the money saving magic of a combo, Twitter hit a discourse that I’m a fan of: dumb challenge hypotheticals. Screenshots of the Taco Bell app littered my timeline, trying to figure out how to construct a $28 meal that could be consumed in a single sitting. People wondered if the consumption of any $28 fast food meal would result in anything but misery.
One of my Twitter mutuals noticed Notre Dame football alumnus, Mike Golic Jr., tweet such a meal and offered a charitable donation of $128 if he did it. I lamented that I just had dinner or I’d do it for Extra Life. Luckily for me, Golic didn’t bite, so the offer was passed to me.
I started my research of both Taco Bell and any fast food order that I thought wouldn’t kill me. This led to my saint of a wife wondering what in the hell had me glued to fast food apps on my phone while actively trying to diet. After I explained it, and excited told her about my plan to just eat a bunch of Chik-fil-A grilled nuggets, she started right back into my soul with these words: “Stop being a wuss and just order 28 tacos.”
I stood dumbfounded and stunned—my manhood attacked in an unexpected and very effective way.
Keep up with the latest fundraising and stream updates. This newsletter will always remain free so toss your email into the magic box below.
With gauntlet thrown I figured out how many tacos would get to $28, allowing for a side of nachos for some variety, and a Mtn Dew Baja Blast because what’s Taco Bell without that unique flavor (of course, being calorie conscious, I went zero sugar). The result:

Yeah, that’s $28 pre-tax because when I say $28 of Taco Bell, I mean it.
With pledges in hand, I streamed this act of gluttony for good, with my kids witnessing their dad doing the dumb.
At the end of it, and with some tequila shot incentives tossed in, donors tossed in over $600. The weekend prior, I did a (horribly executed) shotgun of a Hard Mtn Dew in front of Caesar’s Palace after raising $500 in less than 48 hours. That’s over $1,000 raised with dumb food & drink stunts without ever touching a video game, proving the real fundraising game is (and always will be) me doing something silly or potentially painful.
Stream Highlight
I’m trying to do better about making this more of a weekly newsletter to better promote and highlight my weekly Wednesday 9 PM CDT streams. Also, if I have plans for an extra stream on the weekend, it seems a perfect time and place to announce.
This week, I’ve selected a moment in which I get to show off my “voice acting” skills which includes some very half-assed and hilarious voice filters that I’ve made. This clip has everything:
I enjoy the chance to do ALL the voices in my #FinalFantasy #ExtraLife streams.

Thanks to the Taco Bell bit, I have a boatload of weapon swaps and magic discards banked. The end of Final Fantasy II draws near, meaning the swaps and discards will get more painful. Remember, every $25 adds a weapon swap and every $50 adds a magic discard.
Game Day Marathon
By next week, I am hoping to have more for this section. I am still tossing around a couple different dates for the marathon; however, I need some other things to fall in place first.
This is the big stream and it will be full of unique incentives and giveaways throughout the 24-hour marathon stream.
Podcast
Keep an eye out for a podcast release on Friday. I have a great guest lined up and we’ve finally got a time set to record on Thursday. There are also a couple of donor pods that are waiting in the wings that will need to be planned out and they will be more complex—as the request is that they barely feature me.
